Countdown to Demo Day
Hey, how are you?
I’m fine, thanks.
A team member from the last year Acc’r told me once that his initial reason for coming to Acc’r was a trip to space. He wanted to go to space, take a photo of Earth and tag his all friends. So, what’ is yours?
Well, I did not know that you giving away tickets to space. Please reserve me one as well :) We have a dream to build our business and believe that this Acc would definitely help us to make things faster.
What’s the name of your company?
TV Backstage (www.tvbackstage.com)
What you do?
Our product is a second screen solution for the News and Gossips. While the user watches TV, we provide them with news about the favorite celebrities and athletes, straight to their Tablet Computer. In addition to this, our users can do gossips by their-selves: tweet about the celebrities they see.
The problem is that TV content does not engage the watchers all the time and people feel bored. We know that more than 80% of those (TV watchers) who have Tablet Computers, start multitask. And 40% of multi-taskers look for content related to TV. We want to help these people to get more engagement while they watch TV.
Our focus on Celebrity News & Gossips is the major differentiator from other second-screen solutions. We believe that people would like to get more information from behind the screen.
We target UK market. There are several reasons why we do so. Firstly, for us it’s best to launch the product in English-speaking market and UK is the largest English speaking country in Europe; Secondly, our product is mobile and UK is the market where mobile services are highly developed.
How did you come up with this idea?
When watching Formula-1 (F-1) competition and some other sports. F-1 race is 20% interesting and 80% a little “boring”. We found that most of F-1 fans surf on internet for the “news” about F-1 pilots and teams, and then share those news on chats / fan pages.
What expectations do you have in terms of expansion and revenue?
Will tell you in September.
What’s next after Demo Day?
We continue our journey to the successful business. Demo day is just a small checkpoint, not the destination:)
You’ve been talking with mentors for a number of hours, how was it? Do you have a favorite one?
We enjoyed talking to so many great people.
Is something you would like to tell to other start-ups?
I think will be able to tell more on this topic, once we finish the accelerator. Now it’s too early.
