Startup Lithuania’s call: Let’s put Lithuania on the global startup map

This week, on 6th of December, Lithuania’s startup support platform Startup Lithuania together with partners announced “Let’s put Lithuania on the global startup map” week. According to organisers, the initiative will help to build a broader and up-to-date Lithuania’s startup database.
During the announced period, representatives of national startups were invited to check if the company is registered on the current startup list. In case the startup is not on the list, the owners of new technology companies can sign up by completing a short form and let the whole startup community know about themselves.
As Rimantė Ribačiauskaitė, leader of Startup Lithuania, explains, joining the official startup database brings mutual benefits to entrepreneurs and the whole community: “After signing up, a startup company will come under the spotlight of local and international investors, potential employees, prospective partners and the media. As the country’s startup ecosystem is vibrant and constantly evolving, this will increase the startups’ chances to be shortlisted for initiatives by the key players of Lithuanian startup ecosystem. Another great advantage is access to Startup Lithuania’s customised services, such as consultations, gaining visibility, attracting early adopters and finding mentors if needed.”
The official startup list is open for entrepreneurial ventures, which search for a repeatable and scalable business model and aim to meet a market need by developing or offering an innovative product, process or service. Typically, such businesses should be technology oriented and have high-growth potential.
R. Ribačiauskaitė adds that an increased startup database will help Lithuania stand higher in international startup rankings. “Officially, we score quite low in global startup and innovation rankings. There’s a lot to be done both in terms of real innovation and innovation-friendly environment. Yet in certain cases, it’s all about statistics and data: the more companies are accounted, the better the rankings. Startup Lithuania together with partners are determined to put this to an end once and for all!”, she comments.

“Let’s put Lithuania on the global startup map” week will continue until 13 December, 2016. Startups cam contribute to the startup database by submitting information to this form: http://bit.ly/2haF86e
